Online FMIC - Nationwide

The Financial Mentoring Introductory Course (FMIC) is for new financial mentors to be trained in the skills and knowledge needed to be an effective financial mentor to serve the community. This is an Online delivery of FMIC, the structure of this delivery is that trainees will need to complete one module per week using the online platform Community Heart.  A timetable is developed to manage this delivery.   There is a compulsory attendance to the Welcome Whakawhanaungatanga for both the trainee and their supervisor to attend.  This is on Wednesday 4 March at 9.30am. Following on, there will be three scheduled zoom meeting (each is about one hour long) during the course where trainees discussed the completed modules: these are on Wednesdays 15 April, 20 May and 10 June from 9.30am.   Closing date for application and observation forms is 18 February 2026. Online Pre-test to be completed by 25 February. Reading of the pre-course materials to be completed by 4 March. Modules to be completed weekly from 4 March.   To ensure your trainee has an enjoyable and successful time on this course, there are criteria to be met before enrolling them on this.  This is detailed in the FMIC Manager’s Letter Online Learning. It is very important to ensure that your trainee:
  • is proficient at using a computer and can confidently navigate most applications especially Microsoft Excel
  • has full individual access to a reliable laptop or computer, and internet connection
  • has consistent access to the internet along with a dedicated quiet space to study and concentrate uninterrupted
  • has an assigned supervisor
  • has the full support of their supervisor and manager to give more than normal support through the learning programme
