A request - NZ Cast : NZ Collective of Abused in Care Charitable Trust.

Kia ora Everyone; this request has come through to CoPs .  I'm posting here if you have any thoughts.  Or wish to share with your wider networks. Nga mihi mahana Jocelyn. _________________________________________________________________________________________________

Kia ora,

I am reaching out with an urgent but heartfelt request.

Next month we are holding a healing camp for survivors of state care, people who have lived through some of the most difficult experiences imaginable yet are bravely stepping forward into a space of healing, learning, and rebuilding.

One of the areas we had planned for was finance. Not just budgeting tips, but real, practical workshops on the basics of money, how to grow it, and how to build confidence around financial decisions. Our vision was to offer both group workshops and one-on-one support, so participants could ask the questions they’ve never had the chance to ask before.

Unfortunately, the person we had lined up to lead these sessions had to pull out at the last minute. We are now looking for someone willing to step into this space. Our camp is being held at Epworth Camp, Waikato between 6-12th October.

I cannot stress enough how much impact this could have. Survivors often tell us that they feel left behind when it comes to money. They want to learn, not to be lectured, not to be judged, but to be empowered. For many, this will be the first time anyone has sat down with them to explain the basics of finance in a way that feels safe and respectful. The knowledge you bring could literally change the course of their lives, giving them the tools to find stability, independence, and hope for their future.

We are grassroots, survivor-led Kaupapa. Everything we do is for and with survivors, no flash budget, no big corporate backing, just whānau coming together to help one another heal. If you can give your time and your skills, even for a day,  it will be received with immense gratitude, and it will make a difference that words can hardly capture.

Please consider standing alongside us in this. Survivors of state care deserve access to the knowledge that so many take for granted, and with your help, we can give them that. Please call me for a korero
